Why Superworms Are Only a Treat
Superworms are safe, but they have a hard outer shell (chitin) that makes them difficult to digest — and they can bite. Feeding too many can lead to:
- Impaction, especially in babies and juveniles.
- Poor nutrition — they’re high in fat compared to better staples like dubia roaches.
How to Feed Superworms
- Feed only to adults (never to young dragons).
- Offer 1–2 at a time, a couple of times a week at most.
- Watch your dragon eat them — superworms are active and can nip.
Better staples: dubia roaches, crickets, and black soldier fly larvae are healthier, easier-to-digest daily insects.
